Easter BBQ Breakfast & Testimony Get Together

On Good Friday, 29 March 2013, 'Sisters of the East' gathered together at the Punchbowl Reserve for a yummy scrummy breakfast.  Before the day dawn was breaking Bro. Clark (alias The Duck Whisperer....quack quack quack) was busy throwing sausages, bacon  & hot cross buns on the BBQ in the dark with his miners light , while Sis. Clark was setting the tables & making French Toast, Sis. Baldock cutting up fruit & Sis. O'   boiling the kettle, mixing the bircher muesli & taking happy snaps.  The Cavalry (Missionary's) arrived at daylight to finish helping Bro. Clark.

Sisters were rugged up in their coats, blankets, etc in their camp chairs (no campfire) to eat breakfast.   After breakfast & as the sunlight began to arise, thoughts from Sis. Clark &Sis. G. Challis were shared on our Savior & Sisterhood concluding with a lovely Testimony Meeting, where Sisters shared their feelings of the Atonement & love for our Savior & Heavenly Father & love for one another.

170th Birthday Celebrations were celebrated around the world this month for Relief Society.
We incorporated birthday celebrations with an overnighter, Time Out for Women, at Nindethana Girl Guide Camp on the Tamar River at Deviot.  Over the 24 hours we enjoyed learning about Relief Society history, played games, had group discussions, spiritual thoughts, testimonies, little sleep, cosy fire, laughs, chocolate, food, more chocolate, bubbles, sunshine, walks, service & having time out with sisters.  Of course no birthday is complete without cake & Sis. Tania Honey provided a yummy carrot cake decorated with butterflies & flowers made by Sis. Cathy Reeve.

Yes as the title says, Sunday brought a change in Presidency. We are very greatful to Sis. Bronwen & her band of merry sisters, Karina, Aletia & long term serving Secretary June for their never ceasing love & enthusiasm in serving our sisters & their families. xxxxoooo As the new Presidency steps into these pre-loved shoes, we pray that Sis Merilyn & her team, Sis's. Aletia & Carol, will continue to love & serve our sisters.

Sundays lesson with Sis. Aletia was on Living Providently.

Sisters who Jingled in July

Well what a feast the brethren served up for our Christmas in July dinner; roast chicken, baked vegs & other vegs, followed by a buffet of sweets to tempt the palate, made by Sisters. Big thanks to our 'Master Chefs' who slaved over a hot stove in the kitchen & willing helpers (YW) to serve on the tables.

In between courses a special tribute was made to our young lady, 'Myrle'. A slide show of photos from the past & present were revealed of Myrle & then a heart shaped caked was presented to her on reaching the mile stone of 90 years young............yay, hip hip hooray.

Once we had stopped licking our lips with the deserts it was time to put together bags of goodies for the service project, which took no time at all. Thanks to all those who donated goodies for the bags & including the home made bags for the goodies to go in.

Surprise! ......Birthday girl

Please bring along what you can from the list below to help these girls who come into 'Karinya', (place of refuge)as stated below:

Hygiene Kits - items of need are:
SOAP HAND TOWELS DEODORANT SUNSCREEN COMB/BRUSH HAIR TIES
SOCKS THONGS size 6-7 LIP GLOSS HAIR GEL
(No razors, toothpaste or tooth brushes required)

Craft Boxes:
Any craft equipment you have around the house and no longer need................
paper, wool, crayons, pens, pencils, textas, material, scissors, glue, knitting needles, long stitch, cross stitch, photo frames, beads, etc etc
Good time to have a clean out of your craft section of the house; maybe there's something you don't need anymore that you thought you would do one day & it hasn't happened, so good opportunity to give it to someone else who would enjoy using it.
